Recently, I started up a Substack. I'm definitely not abandoning Blogger - I just wanted to try out Substack and see what it was all about. My first post there is just a little history of the Art of Starnes Blog, and how it came to be in its present form.
My plan is to keep using Blogger as the main hub for posting my artwork, drawing demos, and ideas about art, but I might experiment with Substack as a place to post supplemental material - a sort of annex to the Art of Starnes Blog. We'll see how this goes.
For the future, I really want to delve back into traditional media and document my process with step-by-step demos and tutorials. Given the rise and dominance of AI art, this seems like a good time to turn back to pencil on paper, or brush on canvas, and do the things which the machines can't do - create physical art in the real world. I hope to be posting my efforts (both here and on Substack) over the coming year.
